Iron Age Long Knife (450-300BC)
An Iron Age long knife found in a cart burial from Somme-Bionne, France. Dated 450-300BC. The blade is forged out of iron and to the dimensions of the original. The handle and sheath are made and decorated according to contemporary examples and the blade is etched to show off the grain structure of the iron. The edge has been hammer hardened and sharpened. The handle is made of sheep bone with a bronze bolster and endcap.
The original is held in the British Museum ML.1348
